The Thousand Islands Shore dinners became popular in the latter half of the 19th century. Fishing Guides, then referred to as oarsman because they used skiffs as fishing vessels, would take guest on a days long fishing trip. After a day of fishing they would find an uninhabited island and have a cook out along the shore. Know as a Thousand Islands Shore Dinner!
