Singer Castle 12 inch Oval Platter
In 1902 Frederick Bourne purchased Dark Island located in Chippewa Bay down river from Alexandria Bay. Construction of Singer Castle, originally called “The Towers” by the Bourne family started in 1903. Today Singer Castle is not only one of the most iconic landmarks in the region but also the only remaining grand estate from the Gilded Age of the 1000 Islands that was fully completed and lived in.
