Captain Spicer’s Gallery is located just outside of Clayton, New York in the 1000 Islands Region.
Between late May and early October, this region along the St. Lawrence River becomes one of the premier freshwater recreation, fishing, and boating destinations in the Northeastern United States. The area attracts visitors from every corner of the world.
The 1000 Islands features endless islands, beautiful coastlines, grand historic castles & cottages, lighthouses and much more. In total the area has over 1,800 islands. Its a nautical paradise.
The region sits along the St. Lawrence Seaway that connects Lake Ontario to the Atlantic Ocean. Every season ships pass through making it perfect for ship watching! The best place to catch a ship is along the main shipping channel. The St. Lawrence Seaway is usually open late March to late December depending on weather conditions. You might even catch a Mega Yacht or Naval Vessel passing through!
The St. Lawrence Seaway System connects the St. Lawrence River to Lake Ontario and the Great Lakes. Boaters can venture out of the 1000 Islands Region, up Lake Ontario, and then out onto the other Great Lakes.
Both the American and Canadian sides feature a variety of boat friendly towns and villages. Almost everything in the area has been tailored to accommodate boaters. Our home base of Clayton, New York is a prime example of this. Clayton Features three public docking locations, two transient docking facilities, multiple private marinas, waterfront restaurants, and the world famous Antique Boat Museum.
The area also host numerous boating related events throughout the season. One of our favorite events is the Antique Boat Show & Auction. T
