Captain Spicer’s Gallery opened its doors for business on August 17, 1983.
Captain Spicer’s began as a nautical gift shop devoted to the culture and history of the 1000 Islands, and the Great Lakes. That same tradition continues today and the store has been enlarged to accommodate the local artist.
We began our stoneware tradition with one single mug. The stoneware collections have grown to over 1000 custom pieces, which are still available within the store and now online. Our signature stoneware collections have been cherished for over two decades. Captain Spicer’s custom hand painted stoneware is created by Louisville Stoneware Co. in Louisville, Kentucky. They have been producing quality stoneware since 1815.
Our store is as rich with the history of the 1000 Islands on the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes as it is with its wares. The main reason that Captain Spicer’s Gallery stands out from the rest of the gift shops is our quality of the wares. Our store has always made sure that quality of our items is the most important aspect, next to our customer satisfaction and assistance.
All of our custom made items in the store are made in the USA, with a fair price to match the quality of the item. With the customer in mind, we set out to find local fine artist, fine wares & exceptional gifts, which would not only be fine crafted, but functional and practical as well.
Some of our most popular items in the store are our Laker and Sunset Stoneware, (dishware and serving pieces), Laker belts, The “Beverage Dispenser”, from Funky Rocks, Laker Canvas Tote Bags, Nautical ships wheels, Nautical Lampshades with the Lighthouses of the 1000 Islands and of course the Laker, Books; fiction and non-fiction books about the Thousand Islands, The St. Lawrence River, Northern New York, and The Great Lakes, The finest greeting cards, by Pictura, Duck Decoys, Ice fishing Decoys, Laker Glassware, School of Fish Glassware, Bovano, Fine art and sculpture from local artist of the Thousand Islands, The St. Lawrence River, and the Great Lakes, Wilhelm Schweizer, Nautical items from ships wheels to ships lanterns and much more. If you are looking for items we have just mentioned and you cannot find them on our website at www.captainspicers.com or our Facebook page at Facebook/captainspicers, just give us a call at 1-315-686-3419 and we would love to assist you.
Captain Spicer’s is a family run business; Greg Hooson, Susan Kelley, Ken Hooson and Kenny Kelley (our greeter dog) J all work hard to make our store the best one in the area.
